We haven’t gone out for two nights due to rain. Mike sold his sand rail last night so it must have been meant to happen !
We left around 7, Mike, Chris, Sam, Lizzy and myself. Some debris. Chris played with his animals on the dash. Lots of birds, we have an Egret who has made it way back by us and fishes around Little Gortes. Beautiful night and we are the only one out again! These people don’t know what they are missing!! We had about 17 coons at our first food drop and even more on the return trip!! It’s been a great summer feeding them, have had a bunch since the first night back in June! Chris and the pups love to watch. We saw a Holden Eagle in flight fishing around the water treatment plant! Stopped at the ski club where Chris played with Theo and Mime walked the dogs! Saw 5 deer in McFeeter’s land on return trip! Docked about 9:15….what a perfect ride!

Mike put in another 5 gals of gas before we left at 7:35. There was a Heron across from the dock and a jet ski drove by just as we were backing out. Lots of Kingfishers and Heron flying about. We had 4 raccoons at the food drop. All is quiet on the river. The only other boat out was Tom and Susan and they pulled out after we drove by and were docked long before we drove by the second time! We did see an Osprey by the 3 big pipes flying around. Chris woke up so he and Mike walked the puppies at the dam. The group of 21 geese were all over McFeeter’s hill! We had 10 raccoons for the second drop! Pirate Jr passed us at DMP, we honked at each other. Docked at 9:20.

Another 5 gals of gas into MJ before heading out at 7:30. We got to Mike’s and realized we forgot Chris’ bottle so we had to go back for it! Just as we got through rock pass, we passed Jerry who lit a half stick and made a BIG KABOOM scaring the crap out of Lizzy. Lots of Ducks flew off too. Lots of Heron everywhere. No other boats. We had 4 raccoons at the first drop. Mike and Chris walked the puppies at the dam. Just as we left, someone was putting in 2 jet skies. Back at Preston, as we pulled up to the food drop, an owl flew over us! We had 8 raccoons to watch eat! Docked at 9:25.

We left at 7:20 with Wendy’s for dinner. As we backed up, a Heron flew behind us and as we followed it, a Bald Eagle in a tree across from our dock caught our eye! All 21 geese were at the food drop as were3 raccoons! We stopped at ski club and caught up with Roger, Sue and Pickler. Pickler became a grandpa yesterday!! Chris, the puppies and I took a walk. As we pulled away from the dock to head for Preston, John, Jerry and Tim pulled into the dock! Passed MeFeeter’s walking his puppies. Ours started barking and his came running down the hill and started following us up river. So, we turned back till they returned home! The geese moved to the East point of Preston. At the second drop, we had 9 raccoons! Docked at 9:30.

Mike added another 5 gals of gas before we pushed off at 7:20. There were 21 gees, 17 Ducks, and a Heron on Lil Gortes! Jerry passed us at Mike’s. We saw lots of Swallows, Heron and Kingfishers tonight. At the first drop, we had 6 raccoons and they were very loud fighting for food. We stopped at Sam’s and visited with Sam and Doug and walked the puppies and let Chris swing a little before we headed back for Preston. A boat out skiing and another boat being towed back to Pontiac. Back at Preston, we had 13 raccoons! 😮 As we passed Mike’s, our puppies and his exchanged a few barks before heading on home. Sunsets were beautiful! Docked at 9;35.

5 more gals of gas into MJ, before we pushed off at 7:30. Ducks, Geese and Heron on Lil Gortes. Chris nodded off around Pontiac. At Preston, we had 4 raccoons at the food drop and a bunch of Heron. We saw a deer at McFeeter’s. We passed a pontoon at the dam. Mike took the puppies for a super quick walk at the dam then we stopped at the ski club for a visit. We had a hawk fly in front of us carrying a fish by the water treatment plant. Lots of Heron and other birds out. The second food drop brought out 6 raccoons! Beautiful sunsets! Night Hawks out on the Auglaize. Docked at 9:20.

Another 5 gals of gas into MJ. We left at 7:25. Lots of geese on far point of Lil Gortes. We saw a deer two house our way from Mike’s! Passed a couple of jet skies around Pontiac. Dropped the food bag at Preston, a single coon was there but hiding til we pulled away. We circled Preston, a hawk and Osprey were fighting in the air. Someone was beached on North side of Preston. John was out skiing with his kids. Mike and Chris walked the puppies at the dam. 5 Egrets in the trees across from the dam. Lots of swallows, martins and a few Heron and Kingfishers. We saw a deer on the dam side of McFeeter’s. Only 5 coons at the food drop. Jet skies at Pontiac on the way home. Passed Mike at the rr bridge. Docked at 9:20.

It rained yesterday. Mike did some work on the spark plugs before we pulled away from the dock at 7:15. BIG group of geese between land and Lil Gortes. Saw 3 other boats before Preston. Had a lone coon come out for the food drop and 7 Heron! Lots of Kingfishers, Ducks and Heron out all over the river. Roger and Pickler passed us and pulled into the ski club. Once again, Chris woke up just in time for a walk! Chris and Mike walked the puppies at the dam, while there, another boat pulled out. About 10-12 Egrets and a couple of Heron flying around by the dam. We stopped at the ski club for a while then off to Preston. Passed Watson and Sam on Watson’s pontoon. At the second drop, there were 7 raccoons. Docked at 9:25.

No ride last night, over 104, too hot for Chris. Mike added 5 gals of gas before we pushed off at 7:40. Kingfishers and Heron are everywhere. Saw a few people fishing here and there along the bank. Passed a pontoon at Riverside Park. At the food drop, we had 4 raccoons and a heron! Chris stayed awake the whole way to the dam! Mike and Chris walked the puppies. We ended up with 8 raccoons at the second drop. We docked at 9:35.

Its still 100 degrees! Mike added another 5 gals of gas. We all loaded up armed with KFC for dinner and headed out at 7:15. Just passed Bill’s, we saw 2 fawns playing in the creek! What fun!! Chris was asleep before we got to the rr bridge! At Preston, 3 raccoons were waiting. We made a nice wake for a skier showing off thinking he could jump the wake one handed…total wipe out! We saw a hawk across from Graceland that had caught a fish. Chris woke up just in time to go with Mike to walk the puppies at the dam. We stopped at Sam’s for a quick hi. While there, John stopped as did Pickler, Rodger and Sue. Puppies had another walk and then off to Preston. We saw a doe and 3 fawns with spots just down river from the 3 big pipes and a large group of ducks! At Preston, 8 raccoons came out for the second food drop! Then finally, we saw 5 Heron just up river from food drop, first and only ones we saw all night! We docked at 9:30.

We left tonight at 7:40. We saw Tom and Susan at the rr bridge. There was a group of geese just up river from the food drop…puppies got super excited! Dropped the food bag but to no surprise, no raccoons showed, puppies got too excited! Since Chris was sleeping, Mike had to walk the puppies by himself at the dam. We watched a doe and her 2 fawns across from Sulley’s till a boat went by and scared them off! We circled back to see if they came back them headed for Preston. We dropped the food bag and only one raccoon showed after a long wait. At Pontiac, someone was putting in skies at 9:15! We saw lots of Heron, ducks, Kingfishers, Martins and Night Hawks! We docked at 9:30.

After being at Silver Lake for a few days and not having any boat rides, we couldn’t wait for our usual time so we headed out at 6:35 after Mike added 5 gals of gas. We saw a Bald Eagle in the dead tree at the point of Lil Gortes! We passed 5 or 6 boats between the library and Preston. A lone and skittish raccoon came out for the first drop. Lots of people at Sam’s, his dad retirement party. Mike and Chris walked the puppies at the dam. We stopped at the ski club and visited with Sam and his party and then at Sulley’s and his party! About 8:30 we said our goodbyes and headed for Preston. At Preston, 5 other boats were behind and swimming. We dropped the bag anyhow and 4 raccoons came out. We circled around Preston and made some waves for some jet skies then headed up the Maumee. Turned back at Pickler’s as it started to sprinkle. Just as we crossed under the rr bridge, the drizzle turned to rain! We docked at 9:25. The rain stopped as we got to the top of the hill!

Late start tonight, 8:20. Mike put in 5 gals of gas. Chris was asleep before we even got to rock pass! A little ground hog on Lil Gortes caused all kinds of commotion for the puppies! Waited at the Hopkin St bridge for the guy a little down river for us to pass (he was the one who got drunk and drove his boat over the dam last year) We made a nice wake for the 4 kayaks by DMP. At the first food drop we had 6 raccoons plus about a dozen heron and a gaggle of geese! We saw Pickler and another guy from WAY up on the Maumee so we stopped to say hi. Mike and Chris took the puppies for a walk at the dam. On the way home, we saw a deer by the 281 bridge and another in the yard of McFeeter’s neighbor, Ralph! Back at Preston, we had 7 raccoons for the second drop. We went up the Maumee to just past Pickler’s and turned back. Stopped and talked a little to Pickler before heading home. We docked at 10:25. A beautiful night.

A little sprinkle delayed the ride 30 mins but it really cooled things down! We left at 8:05. All is quiet on both rivers, the only human life signs were 2 people fishing at Kingsbury Park! At Preston, racoons came out of everywhere! We ended up with 3 babies and 4 adults. As we got closer to the dam, it got overcast. By the time we pulled into the dam, there was a rainbow!! 😮 Mike and Chris walked the puppies while I listened to the bullfrogs and watched 3 baby and mom muskrat scurry in the rocks. We saw a family of ducks and some raccoons along the bank before the 281 bridge. At Preston, 8 raccoons came to eat! We went up the Maumee to Pickler’s then turned and headed for home. We docked at 10:15.

Its still 102 but a breeze is around so we decided to go for a ride. We left at 7:50. We saw 4 boats and 3 jet skies. At Preston, we had 4 coons waiting for the first drop and one came running up the shore as we were pulling away! We saw a Bald Eagle near the ski course after a flock of ducks! A big crew from Sulley’s and Sam’s were at Lenny’s for a bonfire tonight. We had to use the other dock at the dam due to someone sitting at the regular dock trying to fix their boat. Mike and Chris took the puppies for a walk. On the way home, we saw a couple of raccoons by the 281 bridge.We had 5 raccoons waiting at the food drop! We only saw 1 Heron tonight but we got to see another Bald Eagle in the dead tree at DMP! We went up the Maumee to the pirate cove then turned back and headed for home. Docked at 9:30.

Almost missed a ride tonight. A big storm was heading right for us but broke apart just before Defiance. We headed out at 7:40. Saw a jet ski by Aaron’s. Lots of heron out all over. At Preston, we pulled up to food drop and raccoons came running from every direction…too much of a temptation for Lizzy. She flew off the boat and was on the tail of raccoons running before we realized she was off the boat! 😮 After about 4 min she reappeared about 100 ft down river. How they got away from her, I have no idea! We got her back in the boat and threw the food bag and left. Then, Half way between McFeeter’s and the 281 bridge, we watched a deer for about 5 mins. Mike walked the puppies at the dam, Chris had fallen asleep from all the excitement! The temperature dropped 15-20 degrees.On the way back to Preston, we only saw one boat. At the point of Preston, we saw a deer at the water’s edge. Pulling up to the food drop, we didn’t think we would see any raccoons but there were 9 raccoons waiting!! Lots of Heron and Kingfishers out. Docked at 9:20.

Its 7:30 and 104 degrees but only feels like 109!! 😮 We saw 6 jet skies and the jr pirate ship.Chris fell asleep before we even got to Preston! At the first food drop, we had 1 raccoon waiting at the waters edge and 3 more quickly followed! All was quiet up and down the river, Napoleon had fireworks tonight. Mike walked the puppies while Chris continued to nap. Just as we came back under the 281 bridge, we saw McFeeter’s pull out of his dock for a ride. he went up river and we continued on to Preston to the food drop. We started with 4 raccoons but quickly had 6! We didn’t get to watch long before we got a phone call from McFeeters, he ran out of gas at the opposite point and on the the side of Preston! So, we were off the rescue him before he ended up in the rocks…good thing we keeps a spare 2 gal can in the boat! We saw a few more jet skies around Pontiac on the way home. We docked at 9:35(Mike has to work at 10

At 7:30, it was 102 degrees and Mike went down and uncovered MJ and put in 10 gals of gas. Around 8:30. Mike, Chris, Riley, Brittany and I headed out for the fireworks. We rode down to McFeeter’s then headed back to the library to find a spot to anchor. It was super hot and humid. Chris woke up for the fireworks, Looking so cute sporting his ear muffs! He watched in amazement with his eyes super wide open! Then, was back asleep within 5 mins of the end of the fireworks! Not many people or boats out, maybe a 1/4 of what is normally out for fireworks. Afterwords, we putted around a bit watching the various fireworks people were shoot off then headed down to the ski club. We had a beer or two then headed for home. Docked at 12:40.

Mike put some screws in a board by the hatch before leaving tonight, a board was pushing up.
We left about 7:35 tonight, we had periods of overcast and sun the whole ride. We passed a boat fishing on the Auglaize by the rr bridge and another at Pontiac Park. We had 7 raccoons waiting in the trees at the food drop, Chris watched in amazement! We saw a few heron and Kingfishers. Quick walk at the dam, Chris is tried and a little cranky. Back at Preston and the second food drop, we watched while 8 raccoons ate timidly! At the west point, we saw a large gaggle of geese in the water and by DMP a family of ducks were crossing the river. We docked at 9:15. Beautiful sunset, red and orange!

Mike repaired the Exhaust elbow and put it back on and put in new spark plugs.
We headed out at 7:50 just after another storm blew through. More trees down and debris everywhere. Saw 3 other boats, lots of people scattered along the banks fishing, many are without power. We have seen big flocks of ducks, a group of geese and lots of herons. Good walk at the dam. Passed 4 boats on the way back to Preston. At the second food drop, we had 6 raccoons eating before we headed for home! Chris just watched! He stayed awake for the whole ride tonight for the first time! 😮 We passed 3 boys on Lil Gortes on the way home. Docked at 9:35.

We pushed off at 7:25, its still 98 degrees. We saw a few boats out. At Preston, we saw a tiny raccoon down river from the food drop. Just as we came out on the other side of Preston, the red headed kid was waiting on his jet ski to jump our wake! We saw Herons, Kingfishers, Swallows and Martins. Haven’t seen the vultures. We stopped at the ski club to introduce some more people to Chris and see the new puppies everyone got this spring! We never made it to the dam. Sam had a good time but Lizzy was ready to leave! Back at Preston, mom and 4 babies were eating but quickly disappeared when we arrived only to return after we left. We docked at 9:25.

We all headed out at 7:25, its cooler, only 78! A big storm went thru lasting 45 min with high wind and hail. There are a lot of trees down and lots of debris in the water. With the heavy rain and the dryness, the level of the water didn’t raise. At Preston, a lone raccoon was making its with to the food drop as we passed him at the west point. We passed a group from the ski club out skiing and another boat. A Bald Eagle flew over the dam just after we docked. Mike, Chris and puppies and a good run! ( Chris is walking as long as he can hold on to your hands). The have been a few Heron and Kingfishers. Lots of Swallows and Martins and Night Hawks on the ride home.. When we pulled up to drop the second bag, mom and 2 baby raccoons were eating but quickly vanished until we were gone. Moon is gorgeous! Mike discovered some holes in the exhaust elbow so we headed home early so he could check it out. Docked at 9:10.
